“World Studies: Eastern Hemisphere”

In 7th grade, we expect from students to increase their interest in knowing more about the Eastern Hemisphere. In this course we will take a look at general informtion about geography and specific countries. We will virtually travel together to different parts of the world. For each region of the world, the class will examine the physical environment, the culture and people of the regions, the economic activities, the relationship between people and their environment, and the nation´s quest for independence and the most important political issues associated with those nations. This course will also examine how the environments, geography, economies, and peoples of the world are dependent on each other for better or for worse. Also, we expect that students apply what they learn to their daily lives, learn from mistakes and achievements of other cultures, and compare and contrast different cultures and countries. During each unit we will be building skills in the following areas: history, geography, study and research skills, thinking skills, reading skills, writing skills, speaking, and organizational skills. We will respect each other, try our best, create a lot, and celebrate each other´s success.
